Dear friends of the seminary,

Holy Week has arrived at Mater Dei Seminary, bringing with it the profound and sacred ceremonies that mark the climax of the Lenten season. This is a particularly busy and spiritually enriching time for our seminarians, who will have the unique privilege of assisting priests in various chapels and churches across the country for these solemn rites.

On Wednesday, the seminarians will assist at the chanting of the Passion of Our Lord, followed later in the day by the deeply moving chanting of Tenebrae. Early Thursday morning, they will gather once more for the Mass of the Chrism, an ancient liturgy in which the holy oils are consecrated by the bishop for sacramental use throughout the year.

Immediately afterward, each seminarian will depart to their assigned locations to provide assistance in the Sacred Triduum ceremonies, gaining invaluable experience. This hands-on involvement is not only a significant step in their formation but also a chance to witness firsthand the universal beauty and solemnity of the Catholic liturgy.

We invite you all to pray for our seminarians and priests during this sacred time, that their efforts may bear abundant spiritual fruit for the faithful entrusted to their care.

May you have a blessed and spiritually fruitful Holy Week!

In Jesus and Mary,

Fr. Borja
